Injectable Wrinkle Treatment

Botox is an injectable treatment most commonly used for wrinkles. It is minimally invasive and is not very painful to get, making it a popular way to get rid of wrinkles for a wide range of patients. It has been used for decades and has proved to be safe and effective. It is perfect for smoothing out deep wrinkles, but it will also work with fine lines.

The injectable substance in Botox is used to temporarily calm muscles, offer referred to as paralyzing the muscles. It is injected directly into the muscles which create wrinkles. Once Botox has bonded with the muscles, it causes them to relax and lie flat. The effects usually last about four to six months. The amount of time that it lasts often grows with the number of times you get this treatment.

Botox is commonly used on the forehead to calm frown lines. It is also used between the eyebrows to calm the “elevens” that form those common straight vertical lines. It can also be used around the mouth to smooth lines that are formed by aging, smoking, or smiling.

Getting the injections just takes a few seconds. Dr. MacConnell knows just where the injections go to smooth the wrinkles that you’re concerned about, so it doesn’t take long for them to be positioned just right.

After the injections, there is no healing time or downtime. You can have it done and get right back into your day. The results of the injections aren’t seen right away, however. They take about two weeks to be fully present.
