Orthodontics/ClearCorrect
A healthy and functional smile should be straight and have good alignment. However, it’s common for people to have slightly crooked teeth or a bite that doesn’t line up properly. This has a large effect on how you chew, and it can create other problems with your teeth. Orthodontic treatments are used to correct dental issues, including functional and cosmetic problems.
The Center for Family & Implant Dentistry offers orthodontics services so that you don’t have to go to a separate orthodontist in a different office. Dr. MacConnell offers a range of orthodontic options to help straighten your teeth.
Why Do People Need Orthodontics?
Orthodontics solves many dental problems. Issues that orthodontic treatments address include:
- Overcrowded teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Teeth not in the proper position
- Abnormal bite patterns
- Jaw bone issues causing tooth movement
Some patients need orthodontic intervention after a surgery or tooth extraction to close gaps and realign the bite properly.
The ClearCorrect Orthodontic System
While braces were once the only way to reliably move teeth, today there are clear aligner systems. ClearCorrect uses the same principle as braces, using gentle pressure to change the positioning of teeth. With ClearCorrect, you won’t have to wear braces to get straighter teeth or have any hardware installed in your mouth. Instead, you wear clear aligners that will do the same job.
To get started with ClearCorrect, you will come into our Bluff City or Kingsport office to have your teeth evaluated to see whether this system can help with your specific dental or bite problems.
If you are a good candidate for it, you will have impressions made of your teeth. Those impressions will be sent to ClearCorrect so that your aligners can be made. ClearCorrect makes a full-size model of your mouth and then crafts the aligner trays to precisely fit and move the teeth properly.
You will wear the first set of aligners for the prescribed amount of time. When you’re finished with those, you put on the next set. There will be several sets that you go through during the treatment. Each one will move the teeth a little further until you finish the last set of trays. That’s when your teeth will be in their proper positions.
For the best outcome, you have to wear the trays all the time unless you are eating. The trays can come easily for eating and to be cleaned.
