Meet the Doctor

Dr. Andrew M. MacConnell, DDS, MIIF, FAAID, DABOI/ID

Dr. Andrew M. MacConnell graduated from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1984. He is a Fellow of the Mid-West Implant Institute (MIIF), a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (FAAID), and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (DABOI/ID). With over 41 years of experience in dentistry, he also holds a certificate in IV moderate conscious sedation.

Dr. MacConnell is in private practice in Kingsport and Bluff City, Tennessee, where he focuses on comprehensive implant dentistry, oral full arch rehabilitation, and regenerative and reconstructive dentistry. He has practiced in both corporate and private practice settings and is the owner of The Center for Family and Implant Dentistry, operating two locations in the Tri-Cities area.

In addition to his dental career, Dr. MacConnell has spent more than four decades as a real estate investor and developer in five states, holding real estate broker licenses in four.

In 2019, Dr. MacConnell founded The Comprehensive Oral Implantology Residency Foundation (COIRF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and served as its president. Through his leadership, the foundation raised $1.2 million to launch the three-year, full-time Jacksonville University Comprehensive Oral Implantology (JUCOI) Residency Program — the first program of its kind in the world. As JUCOI’s inaugural director, he oversaw a curriculum conducted in the offices of ABOI/ID directors across the country, representing 90 of the nation’s leading dental implant practitioners. The program awards a Master’s in Dentistry degree along with a certificate in Comprehensive Oral Implantology.

Dr. MacConnell is also the owner of Digitally Driven Comprehensive Oral Implantology, LLC (DDCOI.com), a $5 million state-of-the-art dental implant surgical training and teaching facility serving both dental students and practicing dentists. Between his Kingsport and Bluff City locations, he operates 10 operatories, two surgical suites, and a fully equipped dental laboratory capable of producing all implant prostheses in-house. His professional focus remains on comprehensive regenerative and rehabilitative dental implant reconstructive surgery, while also mentoring, educating, and collaborating internationally with dental professionals.

He is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Tennessee Dental Association (TDA), 2nd District Dental Society of Northeast Tennessee, and the Mid-West Implant Institute.
